The recent news of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film Jawan's streaming rights being sold to Netflix at a whopping Rs 120 crore has taken the internet by storm. After a long screen absence, the Badshah of Bollywood will feature in not one, but three films in 2023. They are Atlee's Jawan, Yash Raj Films' Pathaan directed by Siddharth Anand and co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, and Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki alongside Taapsee Pannu.

Auto-rickshaw fares to increase in Delhi
The base rate for taxi rides would increase by ₹15, while the proposed increase in three-wheeler charges for every kilometre will climb by ₹1.50, officials said on July 1. These price increases will soon affect auto-rickshaw and taxi fares in the nation's capital. The idea to raise the rates has received preliminary approval and would probably be discussed by the cabinet at the upcoming meeting, they added.

Full & Final Settlement Within 2-Days of Resigning
The new wage code states that a company must pay the full and final settlement of wages and dues within two days of an employee's last working day following their resignation, dismissal, or removal from employment and services. The current common practice followed by organisations is to pay the complete settlement of salary and dues after 45 days to 60 days from an employee's last working day.
SC slams Nupur Sharma over Prophet remark
The Supreme Court on Friday came down heavily on former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her Prophet remark. The top court said "her loose tongue" has "set the entire country on fire" and asked her to apologise to the nation for her remarks. The court refused to entertain her plea and said that her remarks against Prophet Muhammad were made either for "cheap publicity, a political agenda or for some nefarious activities".

Eknath Shinde, The New Maharashtra CM
Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and BJP's Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Maharashtra respectively on Thursday evening. Shortly after taking oath at the Raj Bhavan, Shinde and Fadnavis held their first cabinet meeting and decided to call a special session of the state Assembly on July 2 and 3. In the Assembly, the newly formed government will face the trust vote and also elect the new Speaker of the House.
Aurangabad renamed to Sambhaji Nagar
The Maharashtra government, which is teetering on the brink of collapse following a rebellion by Shiv Sena strongman Eknath Shinde, on Wednesday took three big decisions at its cabinet meeting. The cabinet decided to rename Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar. Late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray had announced that the Aurangabad would be renamed Sambhajinagar back in 1988. Since then, several attempts were made to for the renaming of the city.
Congress yet to pay Rs 3.08 cr dues
Days after the Centre initiated eviction proceedings, Congress is likely to vacate its bungalow in Delhi's Chanakyapuri within a fortnight. The property at C-II/109 Chanakyapuri which was allotted to the Congress party recently has been occupied by former Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Gowda. The monthly rent of this bungalow is Rs 5,07,911. Notably, the last time the rent paid was in August 2013. As of date, penalties including all other charges now stand at Rs 3.08 crores.
India logs record exports in 2021-22
India’s merchandise exports exceed an all-time-high of almost $418 billion in 2021-22 owing to robust growth in non-petroleum products. In the current fiscal, exports reached $417.8 billion, the figure excludes the data from non-EDI Ports. The exports have witnessed significant growth in non-petroleum goods also in April 2021-March 2022 which was USD 352.76 billion, an increase of 32.62% over USD 266.00 billion in April 2020-March 2021 and an increase of 29.66% over USD 272.07 billion in April 2019-March 2020.
Woman To Pay Alimony To Her Ex-Husband
The Bombay High Court has upheld orders passed by a local court in Nanded in Maharashtra directing a woman teacher to pay alimony to her "indigent" former husband. The civil court had directed that the woman pay an interim monthly maintenance of ₹ 3,000 to her ex-husband, and asked the headmaster of her school to deduct ₹ 5,000 from her salary every month and deposit the same with the court towards unpaid maintenance since August 2017.
Maharashtra To Lift All COVID Restrictions
Maharashtra is set to lift all COVID-related restrictions from Saturday, 2 April, as the state welcomes the Marathi New Year, the Office of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Thursday, 31 March. The use of masks will be advised but wouldn't be compulsory, the state government further said. Maharashtra was one of the worst-affected states in India during the first and second waves of COVID-19.
Imran Khan Loses Majority
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's future looked increasingly in doubt today after a key coalition partner switched allegiance ahead of a parliamentary no-confidence vote that could be held as early as this weekend. "Imran Khan is a player who fights till the last ball. There will not be a resignation. There will be a match, both friends and foes will watch it," tweeted Pakistan Minister Fawad Chaudhry.
Painting of Tipu Sultan Sold for Rs 6Cr
A vividly illustrated painting depicting a historic victory of Mysore ruler Haider Ali and his son Tipu Sultan over the East India Company in 1780 went under the hammer in London on Wednesday for whopping 630,000 pounds (Rs 6.28 crore). ‘The Battle of Pollilur', which took place on September 10, 1780 as part of the Second Anglo-Mysore War, was the centrepiece of the Arts of the Islamic World and India sale at Sotheby's auction house.
DA of government employees increased by 3%
The Centre on Wednesday increased dearness allowance and dearness relief for more than 1.16 crore government employees and pensioners by 3%. With the latest hike, the allowance has been raised to 34%. The rate will come into effect from January 1. Dearness allowance is paid by the government to its employees to compensate for the increase in the cost of living due to inflation. It is revised twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.
10-hour countrywide power cuts in SL
The Sri Lankan government imposed 10-hour daily power cuts across the country on Wednesday amidst a severe economic crisis, PTI reported. Since the beginning of March, there have been seven-hour power cuts in the island country. The duration has now been increased by three hours. There has been a shortage of 750 megawatts of electricity as fuel to generate thermal power was not available.
World's largest Electric Cruise sails in China
The world's largest cruise ship, the Yangtze River Three Gorges 1, made its maiden voyage in Yichang, Hubei on Tuesday, according to Chinese officials. The vessel, which has been developed in China, can accommodate up to 1300 passengers and cover a distance of 100 km on a single charge. The ship cruised up and down the Yangtze River before setting back into port in Yichang. Before setting sail, the ship completed several rounds of trials in January.
Daughter is entitled to claim marriage expenses
The Chhattisgarh High Court last week said that an unmarried daughter can claim marriage expenses from her parents under the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act. The Chhattisgarh High Court ruled that Section 3 (b) (ii) of the Hindu Adoptions & Maintenance Act includes marital expenditures in unambiguous terms. The court also stated that a right was created and courts cannot be in "denial mode" when such rights are asserted by unmarried daughters.
Ramdev threatens Reporter on Fuel Price Query
Yoga guru Ramdev was seen on camera losing his cool and threatening a journalist, who asked him about his comments in the past on reducing petrol price, where Ramdev had asked people to consider a government that can ensure petrol for ₹ 40 a litre and cooking gas at ₹ 300 a cylinder. To this, Ramdev replied, "Yes, I said it, what can you do? Don't keep asking such questions. Am I your thekedar (contractor) who has to keep answering your questions?"
Meta Gave User Data To Hackers
Facebook owner Meta gave user information to hackers who pretended to be law enforcement officials last year, a company source said Wednesday, highlighting the risks of a measure used in urgent cases. Imposters were able to get details like physical addresses or phone numbers in response to falsified "emergency data requests," which can slip past privacy barriers, said the source who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked By A Rupee
As fuel prices were today hiked for the ninth time in the last 10 days, the opposition Congress has taken to the streets to protest the move. Leading the charge, party MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha staged a protest demonstration at Vijay Chowk near the Parliament in Delhi, kicking off a nationwide agitation against the steep rise in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.
8,022 Forest Fires in Chhattisgarh in 45 Days
The forest dept's ground staffers have been on a strike since 21 March over issues of salary and pension and several parts of Chhattisgarh are engulfed by forest fires. According to state government data, 8,022 incidents of forest fire have been reported in the last 45 days across Chhattisgarh, affecting nearly 20 sq km of forested area. The state normally records the forest fire data between February 15 and June 15 every year.
Zomato Plans To Deliver Food in 10 Minutes
Food delivery giant Zomato announced a 10-minute food delivery service last week, days after reports of its acquisition of quick commerce delivery service Blinkit (formerly Grofers) emerged. Even though the company prefaced the announcement by insisting that it won't put extra pressure on its delivery partners, it was met with immediate criticism on social media, with users raising concerns about the safety of the riders and the quality of the food.
Fire at Delhi's Ghazipur Landfill for 2 days
The fire at east Delhi's Ghazipur dumping yard was finally put out at 5 pm on Wednesday evening, 30 March, nearly 50 hours after it broke out. The fire had broken out at the garbage mountain, which stands almost as tall as the Qutub Minar, on Monday, leading to a huge cloud of smoke enveloping the region and neighbouring areas. A fire department official said that no casualty was reported in the incident.
$625 Mn Stolen from Blockchain Platform
In one of the largest decentralised finance (DeFi) breaches yet, a hacker has stolen cryptocurrencies worth $625 million from Ronin, a Blockchain platform behind popular non-fungible token (NFT) game Axie Infinity. The Blockchain platform and Axie Infinity operator Sky Mavis admitted the security breach, saying that 173,600 Ethereum and 25.5M USDC (a cryptocurrency pegged to the US dollar) were drained from the Ronin bridge in two transactions.
Lok Sabha Passes Bill To Merge MCD
The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill to merge three municipal corporations of Delhi into a single entity. The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill seeks to unify the three municipal corporations into a single, integrated and well-equipped entity to ensure a robust mechanism for synergised and strategic planning and optimal utilisation of resources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said. The bill was passed by a voice vote and various amendments moved by the Opposition members were rejected.

Delhi sizzles at 40 degrees Celsius
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Tuesday, issued a heatwave alert for Delhi for the next 48 hours. The heatwave warning in Delhi has been issued for 48 hours. During the heatwave conditions in NCR, the temperatures in Delhi and surrounding areas is likely to increase to 40 degrees Celsius or more. During the heatwave conditions in Delhi, high-temperature winds are likely in the areas, the IMD said.
Delhi High Court Pulls Up Twitter
On Monday, the Delhi High Court bench, headed by Justice Acting Vipin Sanghi, was hearing a petition against the allegedly obnoxious posts on Maa Kaali by user 'AtheistRepublic', and it pulled up Twitter for not voluntarily taking action against an account which allegedly published objectionable content about a Hindu Goddess, saying the micro-blogging platform was not bothered about sensitivities of people from “other regions” and ethnicities.
